What is the PVG Scheme

The Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme ensures that people who are unsuitable to work with children and protected adults cannot work with these vulnerable groups.

PVG Checks from a Previous Employer

An employee's or potential employee's PVG check from a previous employer will not give your Podiatry/Chiropody Clinic up to date disclosure information, such as new vetting that may have been added, a barring, or a consideration for listing. Without linking the employee's PVG Scheme membership to your Podiatry/Chiropody Clinic, your clinic will not receive ongoing notifications from Disclosure Scotland about their suitability to work.

Completing a PVG Update check on your employee will link your practice to their PVG Scheme membership.

Which roles are eligible for Disclosure Scotland Checks in a Podiatrist Clinic?

There are several job roles within a Podiatrist or Chiropodists Clinic however they are not all eligible for the same type of Disclosure Scotland check.

The following roles are eligible for a PVG Scheme check:

• Podiatrist
• Chiropodist
• Positions with line management responsibility of the above positions

In addition, non clinical staff such as a Medical Receptionist are eligible for a Standard Disclosure
